N.O. Police Say 249 Officers Left Posts
Contrast this with the performance of NY police and firefighters during and after the 9-11 attacks.
NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans police chief says 249 officers — nearly 15 percent of the force — could face a special tribunal because they left their posts without permission during Hurricane Katrina and the storm's chaotic aftermath.
Police Superintendent Eddie Compass plans to assemble a tribunal of four of his assistant chiefs to hear each case and sort the outright deserters from those with a legitimate reason for not showing up for work.
Lt. David Benelli, president of the Police Association of New Orleans, the union for rank-and-file officers, said true deserters should be fired.
"For those who left because of cowardice, they don't need to be here," Benelli told The Times-Picayune in Tuesday's edition. "If you're a deserter and you deserted your post for no other reason than you were scared, then you left the department and I don't see any need for you to come back."

Update Related: NOPD Superintendent Eddie Compass resigns.
AP: Police Chief Eddie Compass steps off the podium after resigning his position at a Monday press conference.
No details were given and no questions were answered including who would become the next superintendent.
Compass, in his announcement, said he had always wanted to be police chief and that he had led the city through some of its toughest times, including Hurricane Katrina.
Anyone think the timing of this has anything to do with the increasing scuttlebutt concerning several hundred NOLA "phantom cops" permeating the blogospere?

Compass has his own problems. His department, his hiring practices, his training, his leadership etc etc. Wow, a general claiming he lost the battle because many of his troops sucked! Add to that the growing realization that he, Nagin and others easily joined in with the "MEDIA" (sic) on grossly exaggerated reports of violence, death and destruction (if it bleeds it leads). This whole Katrina/New Orleans thing has turned into a travesty/a giant sick joke. So, when does Compass offer his resignation - yeah right!

That is 15% that "deserted" their posts. It does not take into consideration the roughly 700 figure that has been thrown around who just plain didn't show up at all. I wonder how many of that 700 are the so-called phantom cops who existed on paper only.

Good point rob, but I was thinking that those who "deserted" were actually just AWOL while they did a bit of looting. Boy, diversity hiring sure does work; just think, the looters had official, legal oversight!

If nothing else comes out of this mess in NO it is my hope that minority voters realize that they need to elect someone who is competant to office rather than someone who wins for no other reason than he/she is black.
The same goes for the police department. Your life depends on the competancy of your elected officials.

Ain't gonna happen jj, because the vast majority of blacks will vote for the most corrupt, incompetent pimp, black or white, with full knowledge that they will get screwed, rather than support anyone with integrity, because at least the pimp will throw a little government cheese their way and not expect them to be productive citizens.

Yeah, speaking of the looting:
Anyone watch FoxNews when the newsguy was in the Walmart and encountered several cops looting as well as other people? He talked to one female cop and asked what she was doing. (Looters are all over the place, along with a few cops pushing baskets full of stuff) It went something like this:
Newsguy: What are you doing?
Female cop: I'm just doing my job. I'm looking for looters.
Newsguy: (Looks around) I think I see 'em.

IM: You are wrong about who they elect. They will not elect a white person under any circumstances. If a baby raping, muslim, white hating, murdering black ran against a white person of the highest credentials the black would win. The blacks in New Orleans are the most racist people in the world. They are corrupt, have no morals, filthy and fully believe that the white man is the only reason they are stupid, poor and corrupt. To take the wrong turn in New Orleans is to lose your life. I challenge any of you liberal pie in the sky idiots to let me drop you off in sections of New Orleans. You will not come out without being robbed, raped or murdered.

Will The Real Conservatives Please Stand Up?
In catching up with the mail and stories that I've missed over the past week or so, I noticed one that seems to not be getting the full attention that it deserves. After Bush's whopping federal aid comittment to the people affected by Hurricane Katrina, and what is sure to be matching funds for Hurricane Rita, some people are beginning to ask where the money is going to come from. Of course when you ask the liberal side of the goverment that question, you get your stock answer. "We'll just tax the rich more." And if they were in control, I'm sure that's exactly what they would do. Of course with the state of our economy right now (high gas prices, other prices rising to compensate, distribution problems due to the hurricanes, etc), that reaction could very well send the US into a downward spiral from which we might never recover.
Instead, a small group of House Republicans have come up with a plan. It is being hailed as genius in some corners and most everyone agrees that it is a good idea. Of course I don't read liberal publications very much, but I have yet to read anything bad about it (and again, I'm not going to pay $50 just to hear Krugman talk about how it sucks). Everyone seems to be amazed at the ingenuity of the plan. So what is this plan? Act like a conservative. That's right, go back to the original conservative values of not spending more money than you have. These House Republicans want to start bringing government spending under control. And they want to start by reopening the atrocious highway bill that was just passed and removing 6,000 pork projects from it. There are many other changes involving cutting out excessive spending in many other areas as well, but this one stands out because most people are familiar with it.
But I have a problem with this plan. My problem is that we haven't been screaming for it from day one. How long now have we had a Republican controlled Senate, Congress and White House? Where was this group of brave Republicans when this highway bill was first passed? Honestly, some of them may have voted against it. But certainly not all Republicans did. If that were the case, it never would have passed. And our Republican President certainly didn't veto it. We would have heard about that. And what about all the other pork projects? Proponents of this plan are saying that we could save $1 Trillion dollars over ten years. Wow. That kind of money could sure go a long way toward making Social Security solvent. Or paying off our national debt. Or make one hell of a lot of tax return checks for us poor working stiffs.
So I'm asking you, is your Republican Senator or Congressman acting like a Conservatve? If not, maybe he needs a small reminder that elections are coming up very soon. And even if they aren't up for reelection this time, they are sometime. We've got Republicans back in office. Let's make sure now that we've got Conservatives.

The hardest problem is getting them to admit that there is pork in the budget at all. So far, most reps contacted defend certain budgetary requests for necessary projects, but are careful not to mention those projects that are not necessary. To think that we would believe that there aren't any "unecessary" projects in the budget is insulting.
I've been perusing TTLB's
PorkBusters project and found some really interesting things. One instance is linked from there to
punditeria.com.
One rep, Senator Salazar(D) Colorado, has automated responses which are triggered by key words in the email they recieve.
And the responses haven't even been updated.
Sorry, I don't have time to respond personally. I'm busy learning Pig Latin.
This is going to be a real uphill fight.

One of my earliest posts stated (in jest of course) that we should simply abandon the entire west coast to the liberals to let them govern how they see fit. Any liberals would be welcome to live anywhere else they pleased, but they would have to put up with our laws. If they wanted the liberalized version of the US, they'd either have to move to California, Oregon or one of the few existing communist states.

Either way, we have to pay for it. This is one of those s##t happens things - we have all experienced same situations in our own personal lives. Funding is longterm as is the funding solutions. Arguing about how now after just a few weeks is meaningless. What we need now is an honest cost assetment of the damages and honest good accountants - always in short supply in government - local state or federal regardless of persuasion.

Cutting pork, enforcing immigration laws and being more forward thinking on environment and energy are their weak points. The Republicans we have now, I mean. We can do these things better without becoming extremists as the far left has. The answers to our problems do not require extreme measures. Just realistic ones.

This just illustrates one of the myriad problems with the political slide to the left over the past decades: What with the Dhimmicrats acting in a manner that would make Nikita Kreuschev seem sane and pro-American by comparison, the Republicans have basically found that they can just coast most of the time and behave, (and vote), in a manner as unoffensive to media as they can manage. Theirs is generally a "don't rock the boat" policy, which is why they will neither fight the Dhimmis, nor support the President or the military. I think that for this reason, Congress needs about a 95% turnover as soon as can be managed. Throw the bums out.

I just got back from Texas. nice people, crappy weather, too flat. Better idea: Move all the Texans here. Best of both worlds.

Yes Brian, that's it in a nutshell; the Dhimmis' behavior is so outrageous that the Republicans can do pretty much nothing and still look good by comparison. They also seem resigned to letting Hitlary win in '08. What a bunch of milksops.

Lock Her Up and Throw Away the Key
I'm just curious why this woman was allowed to be out roaming society for more victims. This just further proves my previous point that Colorado is going to become the new sex offender haven.
Sentencing Delayed For 'Cool Mom' Who Held Teen Sex Parties (The Denver Channel):
GOLDEN, Colo. -- An Arvada woman who admitted to giving drugs and sex to teenage boys because she wanted to be a "cool mom" was to find out Monday what her sentence would be, but her sentencing was delayed after she was in a serious car accident that involved four adolescents.
Silvia Johnson, 41, was the only adult and licensed driver in a car that crashed Sunday at 5:30 p.m. on Interstate 70 near Tomah Road, south of Castle Rock, but she wasn't the one driving, the Colorado State Patrol said.
A 2005 Jeep Liberty was being driven by a 14-year-old girl when it slid across the eastern lanes during a lane change. The vehicle swerved across the frontage road and then rolled end over end, the CSP said. An 11-year-old boy who was ejected from the vehicle was airlifted to Swedish, and Johnson was also transported to Swedish. Both were in serious condition.
Two 14-year-old girls, including the driver, and a 12-year-old boy were transported to Skyridge. One of the 14-year-old girls and the 12-year-old boy were in serious condition. The 14-year-old driver has minor injuries.
The CSP is investigating the accident and deciding what, if any, charges to recommend to the district attorney. Johnson was the only person old enough to legally drive.
Johnson had already pleaded guilty to charges of sexual abuse and contributing to the deliquency of a minor. She admitted to hosting weekly parties for teens and having sex with high school boys after she supplied them with alcohol and drugs.
She pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors and nine felonies and faces up to 58 years in prison.
Investigators said Johnson told them she wasn't popular when she was in high school and throwing the parties made her feel like one of the group.
The parties took place at her home between October 2003 and October 2004 and involved boys from Arvada West High School.
One 16-year-old boy told police that Johnson performed oral sex on him on two occasions and that they had sex once. Another 16-year-old also told police that Johnson performed oral sex on him when she was engaging in sexual intercourse with another teen, according to the arrest affidavit.
The investigation began when one of the boys told his mother about what happened. Johnson was arrested in December 2004. Johnson told 7NEWS earlier that she was going through a difficult period in her life and that she has apologized to the parents of the teens who are connected to the case.
A new hearing was set for Oct. 6.
Reckless endangerment should be a good charge for this woman. There is no telling what this woman was doing out with a bunch of kids anyway but I'm hoping the authorities here in Colorado find out. Her plea deal should be withdrawn regardless.

Pfc. Lynndie England Convicted for Abu Ghraib Abuse
File this story under crimes that are blown way out of proportion by a left-leaning mainstream media.
From LATimes.com:
WASHINGTON -- Lynndie R. England, the Army private who became a grinning icon of Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse as she held a dog leash attached to a naked Iraqi detainee, was convicted today on six of seven charges at a military court martial.
She faces up to 10 years in a military prison. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for Tuesday at Ft. Hood, Texas, where her court martial trial was held.
[ ... ]
England, 22, was found guilty on one of two conspiracy charges, four counts of maltreating detainees, and one count of committing an indecent act. Conviction on all counts would have exposed her to at least 11 years imprisonment.
Military prosecutors considered her the so-called poster girl of the Abu Ghraib abuse, seen smiling and flashing her thumbs upward in numerous photos in which she posed in front of naked and bound male detainees.
England's defense attorneys contend that she was easily manipulated. Well, duh!
I think it's fairly obvious that she is also not too bright.
Unfortunately though, by being stupid she became the pivot point for an international scandal. Consequently, she'll probably get hammered for something that's criminal but hardly the level of major crimes. Hell, there are female child abusers, arguably more serious criminals, that get off with probation. England will surely get significant cell time.

Do you think this will make the left happy? Or any other convictions of those who abused the detainees? Absolutely not. Until they recover the taped conversation where Bush himself told her to do any of that, they will not be happy. And the media won't help. They've focused on England to the exclusion of all else so people get the impression she is the only one charged.
England was obviously guilty, as were others, and they'll get a fair trial just like anyone else. But the "lock her up and throw away the key" crowd talk out of the other side of their mouths rooting for the release of Mumia, Lynne Stewart and various others who have been convicted of crimes as well.

no one seems to understand that, Filthy...the ME has such a culture, that by the US and coalition troops fighting "nice" that these terrorists see it as a weakness....yes, the US armed forces are winning there is no doubt, but at too slow a pace, because they follow too many p.c. rules and its bullshit...im not saying that the US forces should torture and cut off heads, but when fighting these terrorists who will do anything, anything at all to kill American forces, maybe its time to show less mercy to these terrorists in combat...yes, try and capture the ones we know are the leaders who may have needed info, but the rank and file terrorists should be flat out killed in combat, dont even bother to capture them...what for???...so they can crowd into the holding camps so they can make trouble, cause riots and attempt to escape so they can kill more Iraqi citizens and American soldiers....embarass the hell out of them, kick their asses all over Iraq, annihilate them, so no mercy to the terrorists, make an example of them that are there and maybe the rest will stop coming if they see that as soon as they get into Iraq, the US forces wipe them out like cockroaches...the more mercy we show, the more likely they will come as they will see us as weak and soft....read a book on their culture and you will see how correct that is....Alexander the Great knew how to deal with them and he had very few problems and when a problem did come up he dealt with it swiftly not as slow as the US and coalition forces seem to do...sometimes it doesnt pay to be nice

PC is destroying the country right before our eyes. People need to wake up before it is too late. What would the MSM say today if Bush took the fight to the terrorists the way Truman did in WWII. WE have 21 century weapons and our fighting 17 century warfare. Why do we spend billions for our development on weapons to sit idol during conflict? Not saying we should nuke, but the Sunni Triangle should have been dust over a year ago. Bush needs to wake up, the MSM is never going to like him so get over it. I have to agree with Thanos and Andy. PC is killing us. Look at what the MSM and left did when Al Jazeera reported that the "Infidels" bombed a wedding party in Afghanistan. It was a lie, but you didn't hear a retraction on the MSM or from the left.
Another example is just this past month. The number of dead in the SuperDome. It was 6. 4 from natural causes. 1 from drugs and 1 an apparent suicide. Yet just Saturday one of the wacko left at the anti-war rally stated that dozens died in the SuperDome. So not only is PC killing us, so it the perpetuation of lies in the media.
I'm sure the Lyndie England and her co-horts probably did humiliate the prisoners and should be punished, but do not paint all the soldiers with that same brush! And MSM and lefties...stop lying about it! (wishful thinking, I know)

I will also add that I think England is a simple minded, moralless little tramp who puts out for the troops. Why do we allow types like her to be in the military anyway? The end result. The taxpayers will now pay for her imprisonment, her attorneys and welfare for her illegitimate child for the next 18 years. Perhaps longer.
Who loses? The average American who goes to work every day and pays his taxes, doesn't receive welfare or aid to dependant children, or free hospitalization, or section 8 housing, etc. etc. No one reallly loses but us.

Daily Dose Of Tolkien Geekery
Since
Robbo is off putting flowers in his hair, I'll link to today's (actually yesterday's)
chapter of LOTR as presented by Gary, the
ex-donkey Tolkien geek par excellance.
I present it without Robert's usual commentary, except to say this; it warms my heart to see that civil rights in this nation have advanced to the point that Star Wars geeks and Tolkien geeks no longer must drink from separate fountains.
I have a dream
That one day, geeks will not be judged by their costumes at the conventions
But by the content of the characters they wish they could be.
UPDATE:
An anonymous commenter asks a vital question:
"What's a 'Tolkein'?"
Thank you, He Who Should Not Be Named, for that inquisitive nature of yours. However, I cannot answer, for I too have no idea what a "Tolkein" is.
I only know Tolkien.
But, if you simply must know, he's the guy that wrote that little read book that became that OTHER famous movie trilogy.

No 2 Al-Qaeda in Iraq Dead as a Rock
Ok more good news I can't handle more good news.

The No. 2 al Qaeda leader in Iraq was killed Sunday night, U.S. officials say. Abu Azzam, reportedly the deputy to Abu Musab al Zarqawi, was shot during a house rain in Baghdad, according to Pentagon officials. As the aide to Zarqawi, Azzam was reportedly in control of financing foreign fighters coming into Iraq

its good news alright.Al qaeda being wacked off is just a pleasure to hear.
But what's happening in Iraq is just becoming mysterious day by day..
Just take the events which has happened from last year till date. How many suicide bombings have taken place.Where do these people come from.Ok we can blame the religions'fanctic ideology for that but still to motivate this much people there must be some answer for this.
Also the news of threat of a civil war is the last thing one would like to know.In case it do happpen then it's just history. The whole region( not only Iraq ) will turn into chaos .That's for sure.
It's just alarming!!!!

The MATH The MATH are we killing more alQueda than are joining? Can the number 2 be replaced ? Will the next number 2 be more or less competent than the one who died? Let's try and have some critical analysis of what is happening. Not just box scores innning by inning. And MATH.... gotta do the MATH. 250 billions spent (so far) divided by number of Iraqis 25millions equals 10,000 dollars per Iraqi. Average Iraqi household equals 7 THAT"S TOO MUCH 70,000dollars per family. AND IT COST $100 to fill my van's gas tank.

Spare use the MATH. Just be honest and tell us you don't give a damn about "the average Iraqi" (the ones taking the brunt of violence). Tell us cut and run is fine with you regardless of the circumstances. Tell us that those who have made the sacifices - well, it's their problem, not yours. Be honest John - tell us we can pull a sheet over our heads and be safe from events in the world. tell us what's really important - oops you did - 100.00 for your gas tank. Let's see - part of these recent increases is due to events from Katrina/Rita. maybe we should get out of Louisianna and Texas too - it's not your problem or concern.

Quothe john Ryan: "The MATH The MATH"
AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!! THE MATH IS EVERYWHERE!!! IT'S ATTACKING ME!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
"...are we killing more alQueda than are joining?"
That's the wrong question. The proper question would be "do we have enough ammo for one billion muslims?"
"Can the number 2 be replaced?"
Of course he can, but not likely by anyone with his leadership ability. The whole point of killing the leadership is to weaken the organization. It doesn't matter how many jihadis there are, as long as we keep killing their leaders. Those with the brains, (a rare and precious thing among muslims), might think twice about taking a promotion if the top jobs have a turnover rate that makes fast food employees look like career people.
"Will the next number 2 be more or less competent than the one who died?"
Not likely. See above.
"Let's try and have some critical analysis of what is happening."
Okay, here goes: We're killing them in droves, and their leadership can't sleep twice in the same bed. They can't use phones or computers with any confidence of safety. Their best tactics are to murder civilians and blow up new recruits.
"Not just box scores innning by inning."
Scores are kept for a reason.
"And MATH.... gotta do the MATH. 250 billions spent (so far) divided by number of Iraqis 25millions equals 10,000 dollars per Iraqi."
Which would make sense if we were trying to kill them all as economically as possible.
"Average Iraqi household equals 7 THAT"S TOO MUCH 70,000dollars per family."
Yeah, given ammo at $.10 per round, it should cost less than a dollar to kill an entire family, but then THAT'S NOT WHAT WERE DOING MORON. So, are you just too stupid, or too dishonest to see that?
"AND IT COST $100 to fill my van's gas tank."
What are you saying? Do you think we should find a way to sqeeze gas out of Iraqis? Maybe you should buy a smaller car. My Nissan truck gets 25 MPG, what does your big-hawg road warrior van get?

OK do we have enough ammo for a billion MUslims? Can't really say but sure have used a lot in Iraq so far. "Scores are kept for a reason, we are killing them in droves" Isee no indication that the number of insurgents are decreasing. Again our casualty rate is subsyanially higher than one year ago. #2 ???? Insurgents seem to be able to replace leaders about as easily as drug cartels. We got Pablo Escobar but it did't seem to slow the cocaine smuggling down. We seem to be killing off alZauiri's "top lieutenant" every 3 months or so, maybe the quality is going down, but our casualty rate does not seem to reflct it. I think you missed the point I was trying to make about the cost. The 70,000 dollars is not the cost of killing an Iraqi that is what the cost of bringing them democracy has been so far per family I believe the cost of killing an insurgent is closer to 10 million dollars. That would be 250 billions divided by 25,000 the number of insurgents killed so far. My Ford van, 1997, is rated at 20mpg but it gets only about 16. I guess you were smarter than me, buying the Jap truck. But my Dad who fought them in the South Pacific never had much good to say about them, I think he probably bought the last TV made in the USA. As for getting a car, afraid my tools would have a hard time fitting into one, but if gas hits $5.00 I might have to put them in a wheelbarrow.

How can anyone say so much and say so little at the same time. You bitch (and personalize it to your material needs) yet offer not one single solution or idea otherwise. If you want to cut and run & give up regardless of any circumstances - then say so! Show some courage - whining isn't courage or a bold stance.

Yet we still have more, but we should only need enough to kill off the stupidest 10% or so, and hopefully the rest will get the message, but if not, we can always make more.
"I see no indication that the number of insurgents are decreasing."
Their operations are confined to only four provinces out of eighteen now. If they didn't have the Saudis financing them, they'd be SOL soon.
"Again our casualty rate is subsyanially higher than one year ago."
And yet still very, very small compared to previous operations of this scale. Just because we live in a remote-control, drive-through, microwave instant popcorn culture doesn't mean the real world works like that. Wars kill people, and thus should be avoided, but when unavoidable, should be conducted as cleanly as possible. Like this one.
"#2 ???? Insurgents seem to be able to replace leaders about as easily as drug cartels."
Oh sure, leaders are easy to replace, but putting a guy in charge doesn't mean he's a real leader. The best and brightest rise to lead, but if we're killing them as soon as they pop up, pretty soon their "best and brightest" won't be much to brag about. Kinda like now. Zarqawi's leadership ability consists mainly of creating and disseminating propaganda, and hiding under rocks.
"We got Pablo Escobar but it did't seem to slow the cocaine smuggling down."
Because cocaine is a high-demand commodity with a huge market value, making the reward worth the risk. Jihad is several orders of magnitude more dangerous than drug smuggling, and the vast majority of young muslims aren't too interested, because they still seem to be here.
"We seem to be killing off alZauiri's "top lieutenant" every 3 months or so, maybe the quality is going down, but our casualty rate does not seem to reflct it."
That's because the style of warfare they are conducting takes little brainpower and lots of determination. What does take brainpower though, is not getting caught. According to body counts, which aren't released publicly and must be found by indirect means, we're cornering them like rats on a daily basis, often because of tips given by Iraqi citizens who want to see the terrorists killed. In Tal Afar the people pointed out the terrorists' hiding places, and dozens were killed. We're losing ones and twos, they're losing dozens. It's a war of attrition, and we're winning.
"I think you missed the point I was trying to make about the cost. The 70,000 dollars is not the cost of killing an Iraqi that is what the cost of bringing them democracy has been so far per family I believe the cost of killing an insurgent is closer to 10 million dollars. That would be 250 billions divided by 25,000 the number of insurgents killed so far."
Should we have sat out WW2 because it was too expensive?
"My Ford van, 1997, is rated at 20mpg but it gets only about 16. I guess you were smarter than me, buying the Jap truck. But my Dad who fought them in the South Pacific never had much good to say about them, I think he probably bought the last TV made in the USA."
Nissan trucks are made in Tennessee, but I understand your dad's point.
"As for getting a car, afraid my tools would have a hard time fitting into one, but if gas hits $5.00 I might have to put them in a wheelbarrow."
Get a diesel truck and burn biodiesel, which you can make at home for about $.60 a gallon from restaurant waste oil.

Quite obviously, yes indeed we are.
If recent stories are true, they've been reduced to "recruiting" via kidnapping and drugging, and now they're reduced to using women (this is a major "dissing" of the local tango menfolk's macho).
The well must be running dry else we wouldn't be seeing these desperate moves. This is like when Hitler threw the geriatric home guard and Hitler youth into the lines.

Sandra "Beth" Geisel Gets 6 Months
(Albany, New York) Updating a
previous report and as
anticipated, Christian Brothers Academy teacher, Sandra "Beth" Geisel,
accepted a plea deal this morning which gets her six months in jail and ten years probation. She will also have to register as a sex offender and she gets credit for time served since her DWI arrest. By my calculations, that puts her on the street in about four months.
From Capitalnews9.com:
Defense Attorney Donald Kinsella said, "A trial would have been a spectacle for her family. As you can see, you all are invited by the DA's office saying this isn't something you should miss. A trial would have been a total spectacle."
District Attorney David Soares said, "This is a person who is going to be subjected to probation for the next 10 years, will have to register as a sex offender, whose life is totally changed now as a result as her behavior. We held her accountable. This is the best disposition in this case."
It's not clear what happens if she violates her probation which, frankly,
I think is likely.

Cindy Sheehan Busted
The good news just keeps on coming today.
FOXNEWS:
Police warned them three times that they were breaking the law by failing to move along. Then, officers began making arrests.
Obviously Cindy is trying to play for sympathy here and got herself arrested on purpose.
Updated from Yahoo news.
Others who were arrested also cooperated with police. Sgt. Scott Fear, spokesman for the U.S. Park Police, said they would be charged with demonstrating without a permit, which is a misdemeanor. Park Police Sgt. L.J. McNally said Sheehan and the others would be taken to a processing center where they would be fingerprinted and photographed, then given a ticket and released. The process would take several hours, he said.

It's not even enough for her to know that so many people showed up for her cause. She HAD to make sure the focus got back on "her". And her supporters say, "It's not about Cindy." Right.

No worries with that piece of shit. I'm looking for him a whole lot harder that he is looking for me. Picayune is home of my chapter of the brotherhood. If we find him we will string him up to the nearest oak tree.
He doesn't have to look for me. Just E-mail and I will meet the piece of shit anywhere, anytime with any weapon. I have the tracker looking for him on the internet. He can crack any phoney address. Just wish the piece of shit would get back on the blog so we can trace him. No way he can spend a night within 20 miles of Picayune without us finding out. When we find where he is I have a few boys who wish to talk to him. Time to get down. That prick is gator bait. Merely a victim of Katrina. And justly so.

Al-Jazeera Reporter Convicted in Spanish Terrorism Trial
Buried far down in a report about the conviction of a Spanish al Qaeda cell leader is this nugget, which confirms what most reasonable people have suspected about the pan-Arab propaganda outlet al-Jazeera all along.
From the Associated Press via Yahoo! News:
Twenty-one others also stood trial, but on charges not directly related to Sept. 11. Of those, 16 were convicted of belonging to or collaborating with a terrorist organization and five were acquitted.
One of the 16 was Tayssir Alouny, a correspondent for the pan-Arab TV network Al-Jazeera. He was convicted of collaboration and sentenced to seven years in jail.
Al-Jazeera condemned Alouny's verdict.
"It was a black day in the history of the Spanish justice," Al-Jazeera news editor Ahmed al-Sheik told the broadcaster from Madrid. "We were all shocked because everyone expected Alouny to be freed. It is a regrettable event in the history of international journalism when a journalist who sought the truth becomes the accused."
Alouny is one of the "journalists" who interviewed Osama bin Laden after the 9/11 attacks and subsequently, al-Jazeera has become virtually the only "news organization" on the al Qaeda press release list. This is a good start, but now the civilized world needs to get serious with the rest of the terrorist sympathizers and collaborators at al-Jazeera.

Damn the Conquistadors, where is El Cid? But even then, Cid had to deal with Spanish traitors who were willing to sell out to the slamotards. Apparently, siding with the enemy is a long-held tradition among many in Spain, which would explain their total lack of world-power status for the last couple hundred years.

Isn't it interestinting how the U.S. needs to discredit a news orgaiization that provides the "balance" in responsible journalism. The sad reality is how the U.S. obfuscates the public into believing that it stands for freedom; particularly freedom of speech!
Remember people, that it is of particular concern to the majority of Americans and to those on the outside of the red, white and blue walls, that the new Republic ideology represents a "if it doesn't conform - kill it" attitude. And it is this stance that destabilizes the security of the average American.

Unless you have evidence to show exactly how the US "influenced" this
Spanish judge when the US was unable to "influence" Spain out of running away from Iraq like frightened schoolgirls, then you're just spouting bullshit.
And I've heard the "I love America but hate your government" nonsense before. From people who like jeans and McD's but think that the US should roll over and accept terrorist attacks on our own soil as "punishment". I've got your McD's right here.
How does the "I love America, but hate its government" schtick work with jihadi chicks?

.... informed, non-FOX/CNN brainwashed, schoolgirls...I think you could learn something from them such as the reason behind Spain's refusal to join a unjustified, imperialistic, corporate war.
Also, your ignorance of U.S. foreign policy is apparent in your attitude. Whatever you do, don't read balanced journalism - you don't want a little thing like the truth to change your mind.
Posted by: truth at September 29, 2005 09:25 AM (r9Wp/)
11
Umm, "truth" - Spain had already joined the Coalition war of self-defense and liberation. They ran like schoolgirls after the Madrid bombings. Your reply tells me that you endorse those bombings, or at least their effect on Spain. That should tell you something about yourself.
Much to your evident displeasure, the United States is morally justified in defending its citizens. And the effectiveness of that defense is why, since 9/11, the subhuman, mentally diseased jihadis have been meeting Allah in Afghanistan and Iraq rather than Manhattan and Shanksville.
BTW, how
did the US get that
Spanish judge to put Alouny in jail? You never quite got around to explaining that.
How does your implicit support of terrorists work with the burkah chicks?
Posted by: The Dread Pundit Bluto at September 29, 2005 10:51 AM (RHG+K)
12
You are correct insofar as the U.S. has a right to defend its citizens and as such, was completely validated in its war against Afganistan for harbouring Bin Laden.
However, that is where the moral justification ends. As has been well documented, there was no link between 9/11 and Iraq at that time and any claim otherwise, given the current activity in Iraq, is baseless.
"Implicit support of the terrorists"... very interesting considering that those words are used as reference to the U.S. around the world...
As for the chicks, according to your constant questioning, it sounds as though you want to meet some.
Posted by: truth at September 29, 2005 04:11 PM (r9Wp/)

The US Constitution charges the government to protect the country. That doesn't just mean to wait for an enemy to attack and react, it also means to anticipate and pre-empt attacks.
Every filthy, mentally ill jihadi exterminated in Iraq is one less to trouble the world at large. The removal of Saddam and his sick brood is a bonus. Make no mistake, when you bemoan the US liberation of Iraq you're saying that it would have been just all right with you for the Hussein regime to continue.
But back to the point: how did the US make that
Spanish judge convict Alouny?
Does your support of Saddam and international jihad play well with the al Qaeda chicks in Montreal?

Bin Laden Isolated.
More good news on FOXNEWS. It seems life is sucking pretty hard for Bin Laden.
"For a very long time there are no intercepts about Usama bin Laden giving instructions to his regional commanders, either through radio, telephone, satellite phone or the Internet," a senior security official said on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the subject. If he is unable to give orders physically or otherwise, it clearly indicates that his communication has been severed."

DonÂ’t under estimated these pig shits.
The reason that the US canÂ’t intercept his communications could be that he is passing written notes as they are doing in Iraq.

It doesnÂ’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the US has all kinds of spy-ware. But, itÂ’s pretty hard to read a note thatÂ’s in a terroristÂ’s pocket with a spy satellite.

JohnMc,
I don't know whether this is true or not since I saw it on 60 Minutes last night on C-BS. The Pakastani General in charge of capturing and killing terrorists in the Wauristan area of Pakistan claims to have infiltraited Bin Laden's courier network. He claims this penetration of Bin Laden couriers has pretty much cut him off from all contacts with his networks. We'll just have to see.

Sgt Beavis, I understand the desire to get the 'rat bastard', but sometimes, militarily, it is better to isolate and contain rather than capture. That is the case with an enemy leader that is really not very good. The problem is that if you remove him from his command, someone better may take his place. Bin Laden is in way over his head since 9/11 escalated the efforts against him a thousand fold. His job became far, far more difficult and he is clearly not up to the task. Hell, my grandma could have planned 9/11 - it really was not that difficult (and OBL did not do most of the real planning anyway). But that was then, and this is now. Dealing with the forces allied against Al Qaeda now is a different story all together.
I would prefer Al Qaeda have the least capable, most understood (and so predictable) leader possible. OBL fits the bill better than anyone else I know of.
When he is captured and/or killed we can expect two things to happen: 1) He becomes a symbol/martyr for the cause firing up his fellow lunatics all over again; and 2) he is replaced as leader by someone who will probably be more capable than he is. We don't want either. The best time to capture the enemy's leader is just before you deliver the final blow to the enemy forces at large. Cut their head off, and attack the body while the wound is still gushing blood. Don't give them time to relace their head - especially with what might be a better head.
Posted by: F15C at September 26, 2005 07:04 PM (Fla9L)

I always felt OBL has been dead for some time - but without concrete proof what good is it. To his followers, a martyr is only good for awhile - but a ghost is like a myth that keeps going and going. The MSM needs a body, but given the munitions, terrain, caves (any idea on what it would take to dig out a cave after dropping the mountain down on it) etc. The dude's dead and cheap grainy audio or video cassettes that show up every once in a while after passing thru so many hands doesn't cut it.

I agree with Hondo. The prick is either dead or in Iran hiding with the mad moolas. Odds are he's dead. As the little piece of shit should be. Osama Bin Laden has a strange complextion because he drinks piss for breakfast. Then he eats human excrement cooked on a camel dung fire for dinner. He baths in pig shit and smells the same. He is the antichrist. A filthy, subhuman piece of garbage. Too cowardly to do his own killing. What a worm. Anyone following this low life should be exterminated like any vermin. Their entire lineage should be destroyed for the good of the future world. They are like polio. Kill them all before their treachery infects more uneducated, stupid, jealous creeps. Time to stamp out this disease. We should show no more mercy than they.

Light Blogging October: I shall return
It looks like the rest of this month and until the end of October I will be only able to do one post a day--maximum. Sorry. The good news is that by November it looks like my schedule will return to normal and that we should begin our first Jawa podcasts sometime shortly thereafter.
Until then, I recommend my co-bloggers to you. Their posts are a mix of humor, deep insight, overlooked news items, and political screeds--the kind of stuff you've come to expect at The Jawa Report. Link worthy items should be sent to them, not to me. I'll still be reading e-mail, but don't expect a response unless it is either personal in nature or urgent.
I shall return.

Most war casualties white, report says
More talking points from the left debunked........
The majority of soldiers and Marines killed or wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan were young, white, enlisted personnel from active-duty units, according to a study released Friday by the federal Government Accountability Office.
The demographic study involved 1,841 service personnel who were killed and 12,658 who were wounded, as of May 28.
Whites, who constitute 67 percent of the active-duty and reserve forces, accounted for 71 percent of the fatalities. Blacks are 17 percent of the overall force and were 9 percent of the fatalities. Hispanics are 9 percent of the force and were 10 percent of the fatalities.
Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are 3 percent of the force and were 3 percent of the fatalities. American Indian/Alaskan Natives are 1 percent in each category. The race of the remaining fatalities was listed as "multiple or unknown."
Isn't it refreshing when the press actually do their own homework.

Not surprising at all. When I was in the Army, I spent three years at Fort Bragg on active duty in an Air Assault artillery unit which was part of the 18th Field Artillery Brigade, the 18th Airborne Corp's general support artillery. We were dual-tasked with supporting the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions, and thus had lots of contact with the outstanding soldiers of these two elite divisions, whose members are all volunteers.
You see, in the Army, you volunteer to join, then you choose your Military Occupational Speciality, or MOS, such as Infantry, Artillery, Armor, or the more gentle jobs such as Clerk-Typist, Graves Registration, or Supply. Then you can volunteer for special training, such as Air Assault, Airborne, Ranger, Special Forces, etc.. Nobody is forced to undergo any training or to take any job they don't want. If you don't want to be Infantry, they don't want you in the Infantry.
These fine soldiers that I met in the 82nd and 101st were all volunteers to be soldiers, infantrymen, and Airborne or Air Assault, and not because The Man said they had to be, but because they wanted to be. I noticed something about these units that contrasted starkly with support type units: They were mostly made up of white guys, while other units, such as quartermaster, personnel-activities, or finance units, were sometimes almost all minorities. Now this isn't to say there are no blacks or hispanics putting themselves in harm's way, but only that in the finance unit I had to use at Fort Bragg, I only ever saw a couple of white faces, and one of them was a female, whereas the infantrymen I met on field exercises were mostly white, with a higher instance of hispanic men than I saw in support units, but I found very few blacks in these elite units.
I know some libtard, or PC infected non-libtard is going to read this and call me all sorts of names, or at least accuse me of the sin of truth-telling, which will mean absolutely nothing to me, because I'm immune to PC whining, so there.

Maximus,
You are absolutely right. It was the same way during the Gulf War, with the vast majority of combat and elite combat units not only composed of whites, but whites from the so-called red states.
There are National Guard units over in Iraq more representative of the US population, but they tend to take fewer casualties. Nonetheless, the white population always does the bulk of the fighting for the US, with very few exceptions, one being our hispanic brothers.

You are quite right - it is an unspoken subject. Note however that black officers gravitate to Combat Arms (you don't become a General graduating from the motor pool). Same holds true for black NCOs in Combat Arms - the best always find the path to the other best). This is one of those issues we tend to let "the brothers handle". Maybe PC but can't figure out any other way to handle or approach this at this time. This is all tied in to the internal (and eternal) REMF debate.
Posted by: hondo at September 26, 2005 12:32 PM (4Gtyc)
10
You're right hondo, but officers are a different animal entirely than enlisted, and NCO's fall into two basic categories: professional soldiers and BS artists promoted by default. I have known many NCO's and officers of all types, and some of the best I've known were black, and some of the worst I've known were white, so there is no hard and fast rule about who is a good soldier and who isn't. However, the percentage of black soldiers just drawing a paycheck is certainly higher than the percentage of white soldiers doing the same. It seems that the entitlement mentality that is fostered by liberalism in the civilian world works just as well in the military, though many inflicted with this thinking manage to overcome it and learn how to live with a purpose in the Army, that is, if we can just keep the liberals from meddling with it.

Oh my God. You racist bastards are spilling the beans.
Here's a good one. How many blacks did you see dropping from helicopters to save black asses from the flood in New Orleans. Answer: 0. Notice last Christmas when the news media had soldiers on camera. How many of them were the whites and hispanic men leading the way in Fallujah. Notice the majority interviewed on television were unmarried black females with two or more illegitimate children back home being watched my their mamas. Those of us with open eyes and the courage to say what they see are branded racist. A name that I carry with pride. Great pride.

Cindy Sheehan Brings Everyone But the Kitchen Sink
Numerous news reports have ignored the fact that anti-war protesters weren't the only ones riding Cindy Sheehan's stained coat tails this weekend. Apparently every liberal loving, America hating, Bush bashing group in the United States was there in DC which means NOW, PETA, and only God knows who else was on-board at the event.
This puts the numbers of actual Cindy Sheehan supporters and anti-war folks that attended the anti-war rally in question. When you look at the pro-war folks that were partaking in their events you can pretty much guarantee that it was nothing but pro-war folks and not a myriad of other organizations using the death of American servicemembers in Iraq to forward their cause for liberalism.
Update: Cindy Sheehan now has a criminal record.

Its always been that way with the left - and I might add, their greatest weakness in attacting support outside their narrow band of friends. Their friends in the media go to great lengths to keep those photo/video shots narrow and interviews selective and short (never live! they can edit later). But its no longer effective (if it ever was) anymore. Besides, they forget, they've had nearly 40 years experience in alienating a significant segment of the population that while they might not be conservative, they have learned to loathe the left.

This is the importance of the internet. We need to get photos out there to show people who the Left really is. The vast majority of Americans would be revolted by the images and ideals of the Left and its fringe.
PETA, Code Pink, ANSWER, AIM, Black Panthers, NOW, Hamas, NARAL, Sierra Club, anarchists, ELF, and I could go on and on, but you get the picture, were in attendence. Many of the people at the protest are not even US citizens, and they should be immediately expelled from the US, and never be allowed to return. If they are students, which many of them are, tough. We open our universities to these people, and this is their thanks. Many of them will commit fraud in the next election, especially in states such as Wisconsin, which encourages voter fraud. Fraud caused that state to go for Kerry in 2004, yet I see little concern on the part of the Republicans.
Hondo, I fear that most people haven't seen the Left as they really are. I caught one of the jihadis on a web site in a private conversation telling about how they are able to fool the authorities by claiming to be non-violent when in fact they intend to be just the opposite. We have a long way to go yet in exposing these people for what they are.

I disagree. Most have seen the left for what they are. Do not lull yourself in believing that conservatives (including myself) are in the clear majority. We have a long way yet to go. What we have going in our favor is that the majority of fencesitters have been falling our way for some time - and many thanks to the left.

Bush Vindicated Once Again: Right-Wing Wins in Polish Elections

The Left constantly whines about Bush driving away European allies, yet, at nearly every turn in the past several years, those more closely aligned with the principles of limited government, lower taxes, open markets, and a defense of liberty abroad have won. Now if we could only get Bush to live up to his own rhetoric this country would be in much better shape.
Poland:
Polish papers are in little doubt that the apparent victory of the centre-right Law and Justice party, the PiS, in the country's first general election since joining the EU was a convincing one.
"PiS beat the Platform," says a headline in the influential Gazeta Wyborcza, referring to the Civic Platform, which seems to have come a close second.
"A radical change of power achieved with record low turnout" is how the paper sums up the result.
The Right, it says, will dominate the new Sejm (parliament).
How bad was the Left's defeat in Poland?
Reuters:
The outgoing ruling left looks set to see its strength slashed from 217 to about 50 deputies, marking the lowest point since it was created in 1990 by reformed communists.
The hand wringing has already begun by Leftist European elites and are spinning the stunning defeat of the ruling Leftist party in the best possible light.
BBC:
There was, however, one surprise: the fact that the outgoing ruling party, the former Communist Democratic Left Alliance, appears to have come third.
Beset by a series of corruption scandals, it had been expected to do worse.
"It got 11% of the vote and as many as 50 seats," Gazeta Wyborcza says. "Could this be because President Kwasniewski had campaigned on its behalf?"
This theme is echoed in the weekly Wprost.
"A sense of joy, even triumphalism reigned on Sunday night at the headquarters of the greatest winner among the losers - the Democratic Left Alliance."
So, according to this logic, you lose 167 seats in parliament and this is a victory because, you know,
it could have been much worse.
What is extremely good news for the U.S. is that the ex-communist government that has been ousted from power was a supporter of the Iraq war. The two incoming right-of-center parties that are expected to rule also support the Iraq war and are Western in orientation. That is to say, alliance with the U.S. is not on the table in Poland, all major parties agree to that--Left and Right.
Here is a run down from the BBC on the two incoming parties' foreign policy stance:
What kind of foreign policy would the two pursue?
Both parties say they want to maintain Poland's close relations with the US and to play an assertive role in the EU.
Both see Russia as a potential strategic threat - and say Poland should seek to diversify its sources of oil and gas.
But while Civic Platform would also like to work closely with Germany, Law and Justice is more prone to nationalist rhetoric.
You mean, the right-wing party that garnered more votes is skeptical of the Germans--the country within the EU that most vehemently opposed the Iraq war for ideological reasons?
Here is how the Polish government classifies these two parties:
The Law and Justice Party (PiS) is a right-wing party which cherishes the traditions of independence and derives from the Solidarity movement of the 1980s. PiS represents a right-wing electorate which favours a traditional social order, a free-market economy, a strong and wholesome state, the principle of law and order and a resolute fight against crime and corruption. PiS was created in 2001. The best-known Law and Justice politicians are: Lech Kaczyński, Jarosław Kaczyński, Ludwik Dorn, Zbigniew Wasserman, Wiesław Walendziak, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz.
The Citizens' Platform (PO) was created in 2001 by Andrzej Olechowski, Donald Tusk, and Maciej Płażyński (then Speaker of the Senate), former members of the UD and AWS parties. The Citizens' Platform is a group which represents the liberal electorate, private entrepreneurs and business circles, as well as all who want a wholesome and robust state based on a free-market economy and the principle of competition. The leaders of Citizens' Platform are: Andrzej Olechowski, Donald Tusk, Paweł Piskorski.
So how come ex-commies in Germany hate the U.S. but ex-commies in Poland love the U.S.? The only logic that I see is the ex-commies in Germany have strong connections to communist parties in Western Germany. Western communist parties always had a single agenda: anti-americanism at all turns. The old communists from Western Germany never really experienced Soviet oppression. Their discourse is shaped by Western anti-capitalism and anti-Americanism.
In Poland, in contrast, there was never any doubt as to where oppression came from: Moscow. The Polish Left was never privy to the kind of anti-Americanism that prevails among the Western elite. They were anti-American because their masters in the USSR commanded them to be.
But, maybe there is a better theory floating around out there.

Yeah I wast listening to NPR this am and they ahd the usuall Cokie Robeberts commentary. She as asked so is this low Bush approval rating great for dems. To which Cokie replied "No pollsters I talk to say no one knows who they are or what they are about. Maybe if the dissatisfaction gets high enough it might help them a bit but I doubt it."
I say Cokie hit it right on the head dissatisfaction is all they have and they have no one no plan except to bithch and moan and bitching and moaning don't get votes. Plans and policies get votes and the Dems have neither right now. Well except the plan to whine and moan and whip up dissatisfication in the hopes it might get them in office.

No, that's about it. Anti-Americanism in the West is an auto-immune disorder. Hitchens makes fun of it by pointing out [satire] the tremendous risk taken by those who oppose Halliburton, compared with the modest risk shouldered by the Kurdish Workers Party[/satire].
Cokie hit it right on the head dissatisfaction is all they have...
I've had my doubts about Bush from the beginning, and most of those centered around whether or not he and his "group" could make adjustments to their tactical plan in order to keep their strategic plan on track. For the most part I can't say that his performance has been very good, but he's been bailed out by two factors: 1. The tremendous professionalism and talent of the US military; and 2. The creative intensity of thet blogosphere. In the long run Bush will get some credit for apprehending the right long range strategy and sticking to it, but he won't get many points for management or leadership. Most of the country is still perplexed about what we're doing, and why.
I'd also say that Bush got a lot of support from people like me by default. There were no other options. As the 2008 race starts to heat up, however, he may not shine so much by comparison with other lights. Right now I'm a Gingrich guy (although his his speaking voice needs some coaching).

Demosophist,
You're point is valid, and it is not that Bush can't lead, it's that he doesn't have the polish to lead in the media driven world. He's not particularly charismatic like Clinton is, but he is stubborn and loyal, which are two qualities a President needs.
I completely agree with your assessment of the internet. Were it not for the internet and alternative media, the President would never have won reelection. This is why I believe that the powers in the MSM and their allies on the Left will do everything possible to censor free speech on the internet. For instance, the rights of pornographers and child molesters will be expanded while the right to political(how can you define what is political) speech will be curtailed dramatically.
We are in a period of grave danger for our freedoms, and right now do not have a leader who has come forward. I doubt whether Newt can beat Hilary. I noticed that she came out against the IFC at Ground Zero. This is just another sign that she is moving to the right in her bid to win the Presidency.

"So, according to this logic, you lose 167 seats in parliament and this is a victory because, you know, it could have been much worse." Sounds like the left's euphoria over recent near losses here in the states.
Demosophist: I'm also with Gingrich. I saw him speak last week. I went in with an open mind and was not disappointed. He was concise and clear. I was definately impressed. So I did more research. This is a man who got much good done in a very hostile environment when he was House Speaker. His no nonsense approach is hard to oppose.

I wish the political atmosphere wasn't so polarized or poisoned. God knows there are a lot of "questions & reservations" about Bush etc. among conservatives and the right. BUT WE KNOW THE LEFT! So we hold our tongues and opinions in light of this and act accordingly. Amazingly, the left doesn't have a clue.

Rusty, you're right. I don't think he can win either. I have a feeling it will be McCain vs Clinton on the ballot and I'll have to hold my nose while I mark mine. I don't like McCain. I don't trust him, but I trust Clinton far less. If it's Guiliani in stead of McCain, I'll feel slightly better. Maybe I'll just hold one nostril ;-)

Newt does have the rep of cutting spending. He might be OK as a VP. I agree his negatives are high he's not real likeable but if cutting spending is your plan he is the man. A McCain /Gingrich will win in a heartbeat even though I was upset by some of the stuff I found out about McCain on the blogs last week. Running him out of the nomination might hand Hillary the election like you pointed out Oyster. I wonder why Clinton gets credit when if not for the Republicans blocking the healthcare the Clinton years would have been just tax and spend not tax and cut spending. Newt does not turn me off on the ticket but he might fly better as no 2, he can't beat McCain the nomination. But hillary can't beat a can of pork and beans here in the midwest. Clinton was a likeable guy but hillary comes off as a beotch here in the midwest. I don't think she can pull it off although she does look a lot better in person. That rumor is true TV does her no justice in person she was a hottie but I would not vote for her in a million years.

Howie,
I lived in Arkansas during Clinton's second term, and I caution you not to take Ms. Clinton lightly. She has always been the brains for the Clintons and I found her to be much more politically astute than what you might imagine.
I saw her push a liberal education bill through the Arkansas Legislature that I would have thought had no more chance than a snowball in hell. Please do not underestimate Ms. Clinton.
She has already positioned herself to the right of the Republicans on illegal immigration, and she has come out against the IRC at Ground Zero, which shifts her further toward the center. I beg everyone not to take her lightly.

I think Poland will need some help from United States
http://www.itar-tass.com/eng/level2.html?NewsID=2454877&PageNum=0
MOSCOW, September 26 (Itar-Tass) - Anti-Russian sentiments will grow in Poland with a new rightist government in place, said Konstantin Kosachyov, the chief of the State DumaÂ’s international affairs committee.
Commenting on results of Poland’s parliamentary elections, he told Itar-Tass on Monday that the outcome of voting was not unexpected – “positions of the previous centre left government were weak, and this weakness was determined first of all by economic problems of Poland”.
Poland’s government is likely to prove “very heterogeneous”, as the two winner parties are not partners.
The party Law and Justice is conservative and the Civil Platform rightist liberal, Kosachyov explained.
Just for this reason they have “few points of contact, and their alliance will be tactical rather than strategic”.
The rightist government is likely to run into serious internal contradictions and conflicts, Kosachyov said.
As for the Russia-Polish relations, he said “they were not simple earlier with the centre left government in place; Poland was one of the most unsuccessful international partners for Russia”.
In his opinion, anti-Russian sentiments will be only growing in Poland.
“Regrettably, anti-Russian sentiments are a uniting factor for Polish society,” Kosachyov said.
He added that Russophobe tendencies in Poland were not a result of propaganda by rightist parties.
“Poland is doubtlessly a great European state. However, because of historical causes, it has been unable to fully implement its political ambitions”, and just for this reason the Polish nation has developed a “certain national complex”, Kosachyov said.
In his opinion, Polish authorities will continue their “rigid resistance to Russia’s coming closer with European states, such as Germany, Italy and France”.
He also expressed a misgiving that new Polish authorities will help “fanning” the differences existing between Russia and the Baltic republics.
However, Russia should “adhere to the policy of tolerance in the relations with the new Polish authorities,” Kosachyov stressed.

Hmm...one wonders why Poland would be suspicious of Germany and/or Russia. Let me see if I can think of anything..there was that Nazi/Soviet Friendship Pact signed by Hitler and Stalin in 1939 just before Poland was annilated by the armies of the Nazis and Stalinists. That might cause just a wee bit of suspicion.

He might just be our man. Being from East Texas, I do know a little bit about him, and just happen to know that he is from Hope, Ar. Wow, that is a strange coincidence, but he is a Baptist preacher, and I figured that would put him out of a presidential run.
I know he is well-liked by hispanics in Arkansas, but he has had some bad publicity because of his stand on illegal immigration. He has balanced the budget in Arkansas, but that is required by law, and he is a social conservative.

I don't mean to be cruel, but that motley crew who showed up in Washington this weekend was for the most part butt ugly. Is this a requirement of the Left?
It goes like this:
"I would like to join ANSWER"
"No, lady, you are just too damn pretty, no one would take you seriously, and you know how serious we are. This is war, and we must be taken serious."
"Are you serious"?
"I am very serious".
"Ok, then, I was just seriously trying to improve your image, but I see you are serious about staying butt ugly".
"That's what I said, and I have proven to you how serious I really am. Besides, you're not my type, if you know what I mean".

New Spectator Blog
I see the
American Spectator is firing up a staff blog, presumably something like NRO's Corner without all the Star Trek. The AmSpec has some smart people among their regulars--Bob Tyrell gets a lot of good inside-DC dirt for his Prowler column, Jed Babbin has some good military analysis, and Ben Stein's particularly quotable. No link yet, just an
announcement, but it looks like they should be on in the morning.
The AmSpec puts up four or five free columns every weekday midnight, by the way, and it's already a daily stop for me.

CSPAN Late Night Delight
There were two rather profound offerings on CSPAN this evening. If you missed them you can still get your fill:
The first was an interview with Tony Blankley about his new book The West's Last Chance. Although the interviewer did her best to insinuate her own conventional anti-Bush agenda she was at least respectful and allowed Tony to make his points. I guess I see pretty much what Blankley sees, and I agree that we're probably at the turning point. The other program was the incendiary "debate" between George Galloway and Christopher Hitchens that ended with Galloway standing in a pool of his own intellectual and emotional vital fluid... a fact that I'm sure escaped him. One of the highlights was Hitchens' ridicule of the "Moveon Left's" brave opposition to Dick Cheney, which he compared rather unfavorably to the revolutionary courage and leftist bonafides of the Kurdish Workers Party, and the Pesh Merga; who are (he was quick to note) fighting on our side.
What I'd like someone to tell me some day is how and why a movement that gets its inspiration and financial resources from one of the most venal and amoral capitalists on the planet, and which tacitly supports nearly every authoritarian fascist dictator in the world, can properly wear the insignia of "the Left." How did that happen? Listening to Hitchens it occured to me that the Left may have a second wind some day, since at least part of it (admittedly the smaller part) hasn't betrayed its own principles.
The "turning point" that Blankley refers to may be very close indeed. I don't know how anyone who isn't brain dead could walk away from that Hitchens/Galloway debate believing that the anti-war Left is salvaging even a morsel of dignity. Wish it had broader circulation... There's lots more, including links to video and transcripts of the debate series on Hitchensweb. Really good stuff!
